Lizzy's Rasberry Bar Recipe

Welcome back folks! To welcome back my co-author Joy Hammond (aka Lizzy the Lizard), we have a special recipe that Lizzy's going to show us how to make. Also, we'll have another bit of news about the upcoming movies, Jurassic World, Dolphin Tale 2 and a movie I've never mentioned on this blog before that I'm also excited to see.

Days till:
It is: 16 days till Labor Day
It is: 27 days till Patriot Day
It is: 28 days till Dolphin Tale 2's theatrical release!

In the Spotlight:
Alright, we'll start talking about Jurassic World. For the past several months, we've believed that a company named Patel Corporation is going to own the fully-functionally theme park in the movie, and the CEO of that company was believed to be Rajesh Patel, played by Irrfan Khan.
Irrfan Khan will portray Masrani, not Patel, in Jurassic World.
However, it turns out that a slight change was made early on that we didn't know about. Don't worry, it isn't too major! The company is not Patel Corporation and the CEO is not Rajesh Patel. Instead, it's Masrani Corporation and the CEO is named . . . yes you guessed it, Masrani. This is the only change and the rest of what we know about the movie remains the same.

Now, there's been quite a bit of new stuff relating to Dolphin Tale 2! There are clips of interviews with the actors and actresses, and I learned something from them that surprised me: Dolphin Tale 2 is based on a true story, just like the first film! How often does that happen? Here are the interviews below:

And here is another video I found of Cozi Zuehlsdorff as she talks a bit about Dolphin Tale 2:

In additional news, actress Cozi Zuehlsdorff's soon-to-be-released first-ever song called Brave Souls will be played during the credits! Can't wait to hear it! I'm loving this movie already, and I haven't even seen it yet!

Also, I wanted to bring your attention to another movie I'm looking forward to seeing that I've failed to mention until now: A Matter of Faith. The film is about a girl who goes to college and . . . you know what? I could explain it, but I think this trailer explains the plot better than me:

Personally, I get kind of tired of the way atheists address creationists; they like to treat us as "less-than-thou". This is one reason I like movies like this. Can't wait to see it.

Topic of the Week by Lizzy the Lizard (from Smiley's News), as told by Joy Hammond
“Hello guys, Long time no see, just joking. Today I wanted to show you guys a delicious treat, RASBERRY BARS!” Lizzy announces before someone whacks her in the arm.
“Don't forget about me,” wailed Lily. “You always forget to introduce me. I'm Lily, Lizzy's little sister. I'm the one who is doing the baking!”
“Right. First of all, you need 2 ¼ cup of flour, 1 cup of sugar, 1 cup of chopped pecans, 2 sticks of butter-softened, and 1 egg...oh and ¾ cup of raspberry preserves,” Lizzy exclaimed as Lily got out all the ingredients.
She informed Lily, “Now, you preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Don't go anymore or less! You could burn down the house or something!”
Lily rolls her eyes and sets the oven on.
“Next combine the crumb mixture ingredients into a large bowl,” Lizzy read from the cookbook, Taste and See from Leptondale Christian Academy.
“Right, so that means the flour, sugar, pecans, the butter, and the egg go into the bowl,” Lily said proudly. “Then you beat it on the low speed.”
Lizzy grabbed the mixture and plugged it in. She went over to the bowl and put it on the low setting.
“Okay, I think that's enough, Lizzy.” Lily stated. “You can take the mixer out...no not like...Oh dear.”
Lizzy took the mixer out of the bowl so fast that she forgot to turn it off. Now the Mixer splattered the mixture everywhere around the kitchen.
“While Lizzy cleans up her mess...the next step is scraping the bowl until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs,” Lily adds, grabbing a plastic spatula from out of a drawer.
“Next take two cups of the crumb mixture aside and put the rest on the bottom of a greased 8x8-inch. baking pan.”
“HEY LILY! WHERE'S THE SPONGE?” yelled Lizzy, “I CAN'T FIND THE SPONGE!”
“Oh boy,” Lily exclaims. “It's under the sink! You should know that by now! All right, now spread the raspberry preserves within ½ inch of the edge and then put the 2 cups of reserved crumb mixture in after it.”
“Then put in oven for about,” Lizzy adds.
“Hey, are you done cleaning yet?” Lily inquired.
“Nope, don't worry I'll be done soon.”
Lily rolls her eyes again before putting the pan in the oven.
“Bake for about forty to fifty minutes until crispy and golden brown.” Lily read.
For the next half an hour, Lily watched as Lizzy cleaned up the mess she made in the kitchen.
“You'd think you'd know the difference between dish washer soup and cleaning spray by now,” Lily laughed, shaking her head.
Lizzy blushed and then joined in with the laughter. Finally the oven timer went off and Lily checked the delicious dessert. She kept it in for a few more minutes before taking it and letting it cool.
“Ooh that looks so good,” Lizzy remarked all starry-eyed.
“Hey, not yet! It's a little hot still,” Lily commented. “You could burn your tongue or something.”
So they waited a few agonizing minutes and then cut the Raspberry bars.
“Oh wow, delicious!” Lizzy exclaimed, grabbing another one.
“Hold on! That's like your third one already!” Lily stated, “save some for the rest of the family, will you?”
Lizzy laughed and dived into another Raspberry bar. Finally Lily had to hid the rest of the bars in the fridge and then guarded it until their parents came home.
“Well that's it for today's show,” Lizzy exclaims.
“What show?” Lily remarks, “are we on some sort of hidden camera show or something?”
Lizzy smiles, “I'm not telling you.”
“LIZZY!”
